Photo-art portraits are beautiful works of art, at a size suitable for wall-hanging. They are derived from a watercolour painting, pen and ink drawing or other mixed-media artwork prepared by myself and seamlessly integrated into a photograph. These are usually made based upon, or as an elaboration of, a photograph taken during a studio portrait session. The result is therefore a stylish and unique mix of fine-art and photograph. As an alternative to having the artwork based directly on a portrait session photograph, if you have a photograph or magazine clipping of a favourite location or situation, then this can be used as a background instead. Unless the photograph is yours, I would not be able to copy it exactly for copyright reasons. However, it is generally acceptable to use it as inspiration for a new painting or drawing. Indeed, even if you do not have a photograph but have an idea of some place or some situation, I should be able to produce something suitable. Therefore if you fancy yourself as the subject of a Pre-Raphaelite style painting, as a catwalk model, in a straight stylish artistic portrayal or indeed any other style you can think of then please e-mail or telephone me and I shall be pleased to discuss it. The photo-art gallery shows some examples of what I can do but is by no means exhaustive. Obviously these works are quite time-consuming and therefore not cheap. Normally I would undertake a studio portrait session first. Copies of these photographs can be purchased as normal. A specific photograph or photographs would then be selected and used as the basis for the artwork. Normally this would be in consultation with yourself to ensure that you were happy with your ‘look’ in the photograph I was selecting and with my outline sketches and plans. Various materials are used in these artworks but whatever the medium, the very highest quality of watercolour paints, inks and paper etc. are used to ensure the highest possible resistance against fading due to ultraviolet light and chemical pollutants. Nevertheless, it is important, as with any valuable photograph or painting, that the framing materials are free of varnish solvents, glue solvents, acid in the mounting board and preferably include ultraviolet light resistant glass. To this end, with all pictures purchased, I am offering framing to these high standards free of charge, if you select a frame from my normal range. This is an extensive range of traditional and modern designer frames.
